Mid-Autumn Festival 2014

The Mid-Autumn Festival is an official harvest festival celebrated this weekend.

The festival is held during a full moon, on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese and Vietnamese calendars.

It is a public holiday in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam and is celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese communities around the globe.

During balmy evenings under a full moon, activities include lighting portable and hanging lanterns and incense, lion dances and giving and eating egg-rich mooncakes.
