Master Residences responsive site

Master Residences Yinchuan is an exclusive, luxury residential precinct in a ‘future city’ in northern China.

to reflect this, the brandline was created: ‘Oasis in the Heart of the City’.

Yinchuan is the capital of the autonomous Ningxia region, seat of the Hui people, adjacent to Inner Mongolia, and a key stop on the Silk Road, which was the ancient overland trade route between Europe and the Orient.

The three towers of the Master Residences Yinchuan exemplify the best of East and West. Sinuous curves on the exterior pay homage to the shifting sand dunes of the surrounding desert. The technology throughout the site is best-of-breed, and suppliers from around the globe contributed their expertise and superlative products to make these apartments among the most contemporary and innovative residences in China today.

Founder of Digital Tsunami, Andrew W Morse was appointed Creative Director of the marketing for the Master Residences Yinchuan in July 2015. His responsibility was vision and strategy for the launch of this exceptional property. Although an app, video and website were in development, these were revitalised with fresh ideas to comply with a new strategy and a raft of print collaterals. A responsive site was developed, maximising the impact of dramatic photography by Derryck Menere, of the finished buildings and apartments for all desktop and mobile devices.

Within two months, an international team had produced branding and a range of bilingual advertising materials, marketing collaterals, photography, premiums, print and video.

This project is a perfect example of the production of a cohesive marketing campaign across all digital and tactile media. The experience of the team at Digital Tsunami was perfectly suited to ensuring a consistent implicit and explicit message throughout all online and offline touchpoints.

Investa responsive online reporting suite

Investa Office Fund (ASX:IOF) managed by Investa Property Group, is one of the largest office real estate companies in Australia and a leading residential and industrial land developer with properties across Australia and in Europe.

For the second year, Digital Tsunami implemented the online reporting suite (Annual Review, Property Portfolio and Financial Reports) for Investa.

In collaboration with our friends at Sydney design house Design Davey, flat print documents were converted into interactive online screens, using dynamic components including dramatic animations, sliding panels, fade-in graphs, content tabs and accordion navigation.

The ‘look and feel’ of the site is assiduously compliant with the brand style guidelines in its use of identity and colour palette, font and design, and almost identically resembles the print collaterals, but is presented in an online format which has to accommodate a plethora of computer operating systems, browsers, browser versions, devices, screen resolutions, and font types and sizes.

The comprehensive and interactive suite was developed using responsive design, enabling it to appear appropriately on any fixed or mobile device: desktop, laptop, tablet, phablet or smartphone.

The degree of complexity in delivering such a scalable and flexible solution and the exceptionally short time-frame in which it was delivered, was achieved through the dedication and expertise of Digital Tsunami Technical Director Amir Mostofi in leading the development.

Master Residences Yinchuan branding

An exclusive, luxury residential precinct in Yinchuan, northern China needed a name. Andrew W Morse (founder of Digital Tsunami) was appointed Creative Director of the marketing for the property in July 2015. His responsibility was vision and strategy for the launch of this exceptional property.

After multiple considerations, the name Master Residences Yinchuan was selected. To highlight the location of the precinct across from City Hall, the Exhibition Centre, new Opera House, Ningxia Museum and other important civic buildings, and inspired by Mr. Ma, corporation founder, Andrew created the brandline “Oasis in the Heart of the City”.

The identity (a letter ‘Y’ wreathed in the leaves of a native plant) was refined and applied to all collaterals. In print applications spot UV was used to subtly display a sheen on black surfaces. In invitations and hardbound books, a bronze metallic leaf was used, resembling the glow on sand dunes at sunset.

A triangular motif, (derived from the logo designed by Landor for the parent company Master), was applied extensively on endpapers and print collaterals.

For the 248 page hardbound book, revealing the exhaustive world-class technology of the properties, Andrew conceived the title “A Design Perspective” to encapsulate the focus on design excellence in concealed engineering fundamentals as well as the visible interior and exterior style.

The international design and content production team implemented the brand across an extensive range of bilingual advertising and marketing collaterals and premiums, including:

  • a presentation folder
  • 4K aerials
  • computer graphic animation
  • a double page press ad
  • dual responsive online sites
  • office and wayfinding signage
  • a bilingual retractable banner
  • dual language 4 page datasheets
  • bilingual 48 page softbound booklet
  • bilingual 106 page hardbound owner’s book
  • bilingual 248 page hardbound technical book
  • a printed video ‘book’ with auto-playing integrated video screen
  • a debossed leather notepad and branded executive pen in a presentation case
  • a diecut foiled invitation card, metallic paper envelope and hand stamped wax seal with silk tassel
  • a luxury branded carry bag

The experience of Digital Tsunami was perfectly suited to ensuring a consistent implicit and explicit message throughout all online and offline touchpoints. This project is a perfect example of the production of a cohesive marketing campaign across all digital and tactile media.

Hanas windfarm video

Hanas New Energy is a natural gas and renewable energy producer in China’s far northern Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (adjacent to Inner Mongolia).

As part of the transformation of the power generation sector in China, Hanas is generating energy via renewable sources to replace the coal which has been so prevalent in China for decades.

To showcase the 250 wind towers which Hanas has installed in Ningxia, Digital Tsunami shot time-lapse sequences and aerials of the Wei Li Jing windfarm, three hours south of Yinchuan.

The camera teams departed the hotel at three in the morning in order to arrive on location in time to capture the stunning dawn skyscape. In the winter chill, we welcomed the offer of faux fur Russian military hats and faux Chinese military full-length coats.

Naturally located in a high wind area, where thousands of kilometres of desert provide no resistance, the wind provided some challenge to the UAV pilot as he flew the DJI Inspire One past the massive Vestas wind turbines and 30 metre blades.

The resulting video, cut to an evocative piece of music, conveys the immensity of these 80 metre high towers, each generating 2 MW of power.

The footage was shot in 4K, edited with precision and mastered in 4k for presentation to government and bank officials and Vestas executives and a low-res version posted to Vimeo.

Hanas responsive site

Hanas New Energy is a natural gas and renewable energy producer in China’s far northern Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (adjacent to Inner Mongolia).

Hanas operates the most efficient LNG liquification plant in northern China, produces heating and cooling for 2 million residents of Yinchuan, has installed 200 Vestas wind turbines generating 500 MW of power, and is planning multiple large-scale solar power sites and LNG port terminals.

As part of the transformation of the power generation sector in China, Hanas is increasing efficient and renewable energy sources, compared with less efficient and polluting carbon-based fuels, responsible for damaging CO2 and SO2 emissions and airborne particulates.

Digital Tsunami developed a strategy encompassing the responsive web presence concept, prepared web infrastructure documentation and wireframes, photography and video production, and a presence in the professional network LinkedIn and social media in China and internationally.

In collaboration with Sydney design house Design Davey, business unit icons, infographics, stationery, electronic and print documents were designed and implemented. The web concept was implemented by a design and development team led by Digital Tsunami Senior Developer, Paul Sharratt.

The new Hanas web presence was developed using responsive design, enabling it to appear appropriately on any fixed or mobile device: desktop, laptop, tablet, phablet or smartphone.

Two language versions (simplified Chinese characters and English) of the responsive site were developed. Features included: bilingual videos; image galleries and timeline histories; ensuring an interactive presence with comprehensive content.

The site has a dramatically bold appearance, based on a single background image on every page, a text panel with content tabs and accordion navigation, and infographics concisely presenting the benefits of clean and renewable energy sources.

The site reflects the Landor designed identity and colour palette; is built with responsive design, which accommodates all computer operating systems, browsers, desktop and handheld devices and screen resolutions; and for accessibility, enables variation of font size.

Sydney multi-cam time-lapse

Time lapse sequences enhance reality by accelerating speed and dramatically compressing time spans.

To further accentuate time lapse, several techniques are becoming popular with film-makers. Tilt shift generator, hyperlapse and slider mounted cameras are just some of these techniques.

Working together with photographer Graham Jepson, Digital Tsunami captured the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney CBD, viewed along the Harbour promenade.

Pedestrian and marine activity provided rapid action as the sun set and building lights switched on.

Multiple matched cameras and a slider provided several viewpoints, intercut to emphasise the action.
