Q: Do I need to know HTML to use Wordpress?
A: No! In fact, it is just about as easy as using Microsoft Word or a word processor.
Q: Are there other costs to the program besides the cost of the class?
A: The only other cost is a small fee by a web hosting service so your website can be seen by everyone, more on that later.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS, IN 3 EASY STEPS:
1) You say to yourself, "Hey, that's a good price, and I could change it myself and never have to pay anyone else to do it!" and you go to the bottom of this page and purchase my class.
2) After you purchase it, I get the details via email and call you to either a) register a new domain name for you and host it on my server, or b) work with your current web hosting service to run Wordpress on their web server. (NOTE: I offer 6 months free hosting with the purchase of the class, so a new domain is pretty cool way to go.)
3) Now the fun begins. You get to look around at specific sites and find the template that you'd like to start with, and I'll put that on your site in preparation for the class.
You are now ready for the class! And if you bring a laptop (beg borrow or steal one...no, don't steal) then you will be able to follow along and change your site as I explain how in the class. I'll be showing examples and outlining each step as we go along on a large screen. There will be free WiFi internet access for you at the class.
First hour we'll cover how to:
- Go and login, set preferences and post your first article
- Add sections and make menu changes
- Add new pages, links, and photos to your website
- And if we have time, we'll add a widget and talk about the ever popular image management tool, Picasa)
Second hour we'll
- Do simple things to optimize your site so the search engines can find you, which means your customers can find you
- Discuss some tips for using social media marketing trends like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube to get the word out about your business
- Q & A with Craig to finish up
