Business Goals
By Craig Burgess
There is a saying that goes, "If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it."  Many organizations know they need a web presence, but don't know exactly what it will do for them, or even what questions to ask. Will it sell my products? Be a marketing channel for my services? Refer visitors to my stores? The answers to these questions are critical for any website to succeed.

On the other hand, if you have already figured out your business goals for your web site, great job. All decisions should stem from these critical points. Think of your goals like the steel-reinforced concrete slab under your own office building. No one in their right mind would build a physical building without a foundation, but it's done all the time on the web. So, be smart. Make good, solid decisive goals and then build away. You won't regret the extra time it took to define what your site will do for you and your organization.
