The word "design" has many
meanings. Many people think the phrase "web
design" mostly means strictly
graphic design. Well, if contractors could build a new house or barn with just paint, I guess
so. But as funny as that sounds, some people have the same idea

How many times have you visited sites where you felt like you've just stumbled across a secret clubhouse adorned with symbols that only have meaning to the members?
It's not that the in-house or hired designers and developers try to hide what the site has to offer, they (or their supervisors) are just too close to the project to realize that their knowledge of their company or product is not our knowledge. And if you're convinced everyone already knows about your particular niche, then get help. Have your Mom or your neighbor to look at your home page. Does she get it? Does she understand (in under a minute) what your company or website does, with no explanation from you? Recommend this article... |

In web development, it usually involves some type of graphical user interface (GUI, pronounced "Goo-ey") and people from different walks of life looking at your web site. Recommend this article... |

There is a saying that goes, "If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it." Many organizations know they need a web presence, but don't know exactly what it will do for them, or even what questions to ask. Will it sell my products? Be a marketing channel for my services? Refer visitors to my stores? The answers to these questions are critical for any website to succeed. Recommend this article... |
